On February 1, 2008, Mayor Mary Manross celebrated western sculptor Herb Mingery along with more than 400 people dedicated the large-scale bronze monument commemorating the 50th anniversary of Arizona’s own Hashknife Pony Express. Completion: February 2008.
Location: Scottsdale to Hayden Road, focused on Indian Bend Wash
Artist team of Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan are proposing a three part integrated artwork in the functional elements of the project, including a new flood control drop structure, wash basin and related landscape aesthetics. Through art they are striving to enhance perception and understanding of flood events in the wash as well as views out from the site.
Location: Pima Road to 64th Street
Artist Stacy Levy has been recommended to join the design team to create an enhanced aesthetic experience and pedestrian/ bicycle amenities in the streetscape of Thomas Road.

Emerging Arizona artists serve on selection panels to gain experience of the selection process, which will aid them in creating strong future applications.
Calls to artists are listed on the website so that anyone may view them and apply. The staff makes an effort to have at least one project annually that brings on one emerging artist from the state.
A resource list of artists working in bronze is posted on our website. It lists local and national bronze artists, foundries, links for artists and other useful information.
Artists are encouraged to register themselves on htpp://artistsregister.com and learn about meetings and competitions relative to public art.
There are a great number of public meetings held in Scottsdale and Valley-wide where noted public artists present their ideas. These can be great examples for emerging artists about how to professionally propose their concepts. Call each program or check their websites for up coming meetings.
